2024: G38 - the most powerful gearbox ever
In 2024, Scania strengthened its premium heavy-duty offering by introducing the G38 gearbox, developed over six years specifically to work in combination with the iconic 770 hp V8 engine. Unveiled at the Elmia truck fair in Sweden, the G38 is the final evolution of Scania’s G-series gearboxes and is engineered to handle up to 3,800 Nm of torque without increased weight or dimensions. Through advanced metallurgy, improved durability technologies and optimized lubrication, the G38 delivers reduced friction, lower noise levels and improved fuel efficiency. Lighter than previous solutions and fully integrated into the Scania modular system, the G38 enables smoother performance, better startability and enhanced robustness, especially for demanding heavy-haulage and off-road operations.
