1961: Introduction of Super-charged truck engine DS10

With ten years of experience of turbo diesel engines Scania-Vabis launches the first super charged 10 litre truck engine, DS10. The first 75-series trucks with a "Super" plate are beginning to appear on the roads. In the first full page newspaper ad in March 1961 the new Super engine was presented as follows: "The new engine DS 10 is equipped with a turbine compressor that is driven by the engine exhausts. The advantage with a turbine compressor engine is that one can take advantage of a greater part of the fuel’s energy for the propulsion of the vehicle. With a turbine compressor one gains an increased effect and lower fuel consumption. Scania-Vabis 75 Super therefore performs more work to a lower cost in less time."
