2023: New biogas engine gives 5% fuel savings

Scania launches a new gas engine with up to 460 hp and 2,300 nm of torque. The new biogas engines were based on the renowned 13-litre gas engine that Scania has offered for several years. By increasing their engine power levels and preparing them for future legal demands, Scania demonstrated its intention to gain an even bigger market share in the quest for decarbonisation. Pairing the new gas engines with Scania’s Super powertrain, increased efficiency and noted fuel savings of 5 percent. And with ranges of up to 1,800 kilometres, the new biogas offer could satisfy the needs of the most demanding long-haul operators. For companies and transport buyers who wanted to rapidly de-carbonise their road transports here and now, switching to biogas could deliver carbon reductions of up to 90 percent well-to-wheel.
