2019: Scania Citywide meets the public

In October 2019, Scania launched the next generation of its Citywide buses for urban and suburban operations. Leading with the Scania Citywide battery electric bus (BEV), the new range offered lower energy and fuel consumption for all powertrain options, with no or low emission alternatives. It gave higher passenger capacity, better drivability and more comfort for passengers and drivers alike.

With buses in the vanguard of the shift to fossil-free transport in cities, Scania’s new Citywide BEV bus was a crucial step forward. With a 300 kW electric motor powered by batteries designed for fast-charging, the bus could carry up to 95 passengers in comfort. In 2019 we also launched the Scania Flexible Maintenance service for buses. As with our service for trucks, the system ensures that the buses are called on for service only when necessary, based on real-time operating data.
