2004: Launch of the R-series

The launch of the R-series and, later, the PRT-range in 2004 is the start of an era with a clearer identity for the different cab models. Scania’s focus during development of the new truck range is to create an even better environment for the driver and to provide even better earning power for the owner. The model designations contain the cab type and then the horsepower rating. The R-series (big forward-control cab) is followed by the P-series (smaller forward-control cab) and the T-series (bonneted). The T-model says goodbye in 2005, putting an end to a century-long design concept. Sales of the bonneted T-model had declined during the past 10 years, and it is no longer feasible to continue developing and producing it.
