1964: New central laboratory opens

Scania's new central laboratory opens. Later nick-named The Hill, with the three laboratory wings and an adjacent office building Scania's laboratory activities are, for the first time, concentrated in one place. The facilities have been designed for some 50 employees and built with a volume increase in mind. Technical Director Sverker Sjöström highlights four main considerations for the investment: long-term development opportunities, quality control of prototypes prior to production start, elimination of faults as well as improvements of existing products and cost-reduction in the production of existing products.
