1969: Introduction of the legendary V8 engine
Introduction of the new 350 hp 14-litre turbocharged V8 engine. Scania’s V8 engines are to become legendary in the transport business. Being the most powerful truck engine in Europe at the time, the new V8 also pioneers Scania’s low-rev philosophy with a high torque output at low engine speeds. Driving at low engine revs improves fuel economy, extends the engine’s service life and reduces noise, in addition to which gear changing can be kept to a minimum.
