But, we wanted to give you a bit of insight into a day in the life of the parts team here at TruckEast and what better way to do this than to meet one of our longest servers – Grant Bryant...

Specialist scrap-metal business, Goldstar Metal Traders continues to put its trust in the Swedish marque and dealer TruckEast with its latest additions including a 10th anniversary Scania XT hook-loader.

Following a year filled with challenge and one that was dominated by Covid-19, Scania dealer TruckEast Limited commits to hope for the future by planting and maintaining one tree for each retail Scania truck sold. Last month the initiative was kick-started with a variety of species planted for every retail truck sold since January 2020. The current plot being used will eventually cover just over an acre of land and is predominantly populated with native species such as English Oak and Hornbeam. Not only will the woodland contribute to restoring the UK forest canopy for many years to come, but provide additional habitat for local wildlife as the trees mature. Over the next 100 years, this maintained woodland will sequester an estimated 132 tons of carbon.

TruckEast Norwich has been announced as the overall winner of the 2020 Scania Depot of the Year (DoTY) competition, making it the second time the branch has been awarded this prestigious prize in the last three years. The runner up in the 2020 event was Keltruck Hereford, with West Pennine Trucks Telford taking third place. DoTY is a year-long event which focuses on a broad range of qualitative measures designed to highlight the overall capability of each of the 84 service centres in the UK Scania network. What makes the 2020 competition of particular note is the strength of performance of the whole Scania network delivered throughout a year dominated by COVID-19.

With planning approved, the project can now get underway for a flagship site that will see us relocate our head office. The new 3.7 acre plot is ideally located for local operators right off junction 47a on the A14 and only 5 miles from the current location on Violet Hill road.

TruckEast celebrates the longest-serving Scania technician, David Keeling who is set to retire this month after an incredible 50 years of dedicated service at TruckEast Stowmarket. On 7th July, the Suffolk based Scania dealer took the opportunity to present David with his long service award in an outdoor celebration; together with his colleagues and a stunning collection of vehicles he has worked with over the years.

TruckEast Director, Graham Broughton gets ready to Ride across Britain this September, in a bid to fundraise for UK Charity – Alzheimer’s Society. Testing the mind and body in an endurance challenge like no other, the Deloitte Ride across Britain covers a total of 980 mies, from the rolling hills of Cornwall to the vast sweeping landscapes of Scotland.

In 2017, the government introduced an official funding route for lgv driver training; most importantly for the sector including licence acquisition. Previously capped at up to £5,000, the Secretary of Education, Gavin Williamson has confirmed that the funding for hgv C + E apprenticeships will increase to £7,000 from 1st July. According to the RHA, the announcement is a step towards resolving the driver shortage, but there is more that needs to be done.
