TruckEast Sales Manager retires after nearly 3 decades

Farewell to Peter McGowan

31st January, 2024

This month we say farewell to Peter McGowan, TruckEast Sales Manager and a well-known face in the commercial vehicle industry. After nearly thirty years with the business, Pete is looking forward to a well earned retirement.

Originally joining what was then, 'Derek Jones Commercials' back in 1995, Pete began his journey as a Sales Executive; responsible for customers in Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire areas. Quickly finding his feet within the business, Pete began to expand the customer base and build many lasting connections in the region, leading to his promotion in 1998 to Sales Manager.

As the company grew and merged with Ro-Trucks to form TruckEast in 2006, Pete took on further responsibility within the sales team, helping to contribute to its growth. Now, nearly 30 years and many trucks later, he has built long lasting relationships through his extensive industry knowledge and reputation as a trustworthy sales manager.

From selling his first Scania truck, a P220 93M 4x2 to his last order (3 x P420 8x4 tippers and 1 x P360 8x2*6), Pete's consistent passion and commitment to finding the right solution for his customers has shone. And for those that had the pleasure of working with him, he has undoubtedly left a lasting impression.

Sales Director, Carl Johnson comments, "Pete has had a long and successful career in our industry, establishing himself as a well-regarded Sales Manager. During his time at TruckEast he has greatly contributed to our successes and he will be greatly missed by staff and customers alike. We want to thank him for his dedication and wish him a long and happy retirement."

Continuing to support the customer base of Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire, existing Area Sales Manager's Andrew Ayears and Richard Feast will be working alongside newly appointed Jason Woodley to take over the role that Pete leaves behind. Jason joined TruckEast from within the industry and has spent the past few months working closely with Pete to ensure an easy transition for existing customers and of course, pass on some of Pete's encyclopaedic Scania knowledge.

From all at TruckEast - we wish you a happy, healthy retirement and look forward to you popping in for a cuppa!
