TruckEast named as Finalist at the Motor Transport Awards 2025
We are thrilled to announce that TruckEast has been named a finalist in the New Talent Development category at the prestigious Motor Transport Awards, putting us as a front-runner for our ability to recruit, develop, and retain the best new talent to meet future business needs.
The New Talent Development category focuses on businesses that can attract new talent into the industry by, not only offering attractive renumeration and promotion opportunities, but also through innovative approaches to developing specialised programs which promote key skill development as well as incentivising and retaining staff once qualified, to ensure they have a strong, skilled workforce for the future.
The awards will be taking place in London on 3rd September where, for almost 40 years, the Motor Transport Awards have been the benchmark for excellence among UK road transport fleet operators, truck manufacturers and other product and service providers.
TruckEast has been recognised by Motor Transport for our commitment to opening new opportunities to those wanting to learn new skills, as well as rewarding and supporting long-serving colleagues, whilst also remaining focused on our community initiatives to ensure we have a strong business in the future.
The judges were impressed by the application which put a spotlight on our three-year apprenticeship, which combines theoretical and practical learning and is designed to help apprentices reach their full potential. The programme's success is evident through our apprentices winning five prestigious awards last year, and it is our objective to continue to support, develop and celebrate new talent joining our business in 2025 and beyond.
Our technical roles cover half of our workforce and our ambition has been to implement a clear career progression pathway for each of our employees as well as offer attractive benefits such as our Duke of Edinburgh programme, 10-year payout loyalty scheme and Long Service Awards. We also believe that our community initiatives significantly contribute to our recruitment strategy to reach new talent. This varies hugely; from taking part in charity events across East Anglia, to supporting local sports clubs, careers fairs in schools, colleges and the cadets.
These initiatives in particular help us to attract a range of different people and help us to build a long-term workforce who support us to build our business for the future.
Our Managing Director, Harley Coulson, gave his thoughts on the achievement, “I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved at TruckEast. Having started as an apprentice myself, I'm very passionate about being part of a business that actively supports individuals to become the best they can be and forge out a career for life. Through our dedicated team, we’ve been able to attract, develop and retain new talent, all of which make up the fantastic, people-centric business we have today.”
