TRUCKEAST COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
16th February 2022
In 2021, Scania dealer TruckEast introduced ‘One Truck One Tree’ – a commitment to reduce the impact of carbon emissions and restore natural eco-systems. As part of ‘One Truck One Tree’, TruckEast plant and maintain a tree in the UK every time a Scania truck is sold.
The idea to create TruckEast woodlands originated from a series of sustainability workshops TruckEast held in 2019, where employees from across the business came together to learn more about sustainability, and how they can contribute to it on a local level.
Over the last two years TruckEast has planted over 1500 trees, which include native species, English Oak and Hornbeam. The first batch of trees were planted in March 2021 in an area near Great Easton, a village in the Harborough district in Leicestershire. In February this year, the latest planting happened on land at Nevill Holt, Leicestershire, which is owned by the Beaty family. TruckEast and the Beaty family have agreed to work together long-term with the Beaty family providing the land and TruckEast funding the tree planting.
As well as being attractive aesthetically for the Leicestershire community, the trees will improve environmental quality and have a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing, encouraging outdoor exercise.
