Smarter, safer, more efficient: How Scania’s digital services boost electric trucks
7 JANUARY 2026
Scania’s digital services for battery-electric vehicles are like a buffet of smart functionality – designed to make electrification easier and more profitable. Here’s an overview.
Smart, proactive and easy to use: these are the hallmarks of Scania’s digital services for battery-electric trucks. And now, they’re all bundled into one comprehensive, efficient package: the Scania Electric Vehicle Control Package. Even better, the package is included with every vehicle for the first three years.
“The reason is simple: we want as many customers as possible to discover just how valuable these services are for any haulage company embarking on its electrification journey,” says Johanna Piira, Service Product Manager at Scania e-Mobility.
Integrated into one digital ecosystem
Accessing the digital services is simple and straightforward. Drivers use the Scania Driver App, while fleet managers and transport planners can log in via the My Scania platform on desktop or via the Scania Fleet App.
“All tools, services and features within the package are easily accessible and of course integrated with the My Scania digital ecosystem, which is accessible both on desktop and mobile devices – anywhere, anytime,” says Piira.
“What’s more,” she adds, “all the functionality has been shaped to be clear and intuitive, thanks to extensive feedback from Scania’s customers.”
Four ways Scania’s digital services support hauliers
So, for hauliers that have already begun electrifying their fleets, which of Scania’s digital functionality areas should they look into first? Piira and her colleague Dino Menegoni, Product Manager for Charging Services at Scania, highlight four in particular:
- Full visibility of your fleet: “With all the functionality around locating the trucks, you can always see what’s going on and react both proactively and reactively,” Piira explains.
- Maximised range through energy insights: “The energy consumption features allow drivers or fleet managers to monitor the trucks’ usage and take action to maximise range,” says Piira.
- Real-time safety and performance checks: Piira explains that with service planning and fleet performance tools, you can instantly check the fleet’s status, staying updated in real time on things like tyre pressure and state of charge. “And if something breaks, you’ll know straight away,” she says.
- Smarter, stress-free charging: “Our services also cover everything related to charging; from planning and scheduling to optimising charging sessions, including access to a map of public charging points,” says Menegoni.
So how do these services create value in real-world operations?
Here are two examples that highlight a suitable mix of services for different transport applications, showing how Scania’s digital ecosystem supports electrification in practice:
Use case #1: Urban transport
Whether it’s e-commerce deliveries, parcel services or refuse collection, city traffic typically means frequent stop-and-go driving, many short trips, and often the need to keep end-customers updated on changes to delivery times. Valuable services for these applications include:
- Scania Zone, which enables fleet operators to set geofenced areas where vehicles automatically adapt their behaviour to local requirements such as speed restrictions. This ensures regulatory compliance, improves safety and promotes consistent operations.
- Fleet Position, which helps operators track vehicle locations and confirm that a vehicle has been in the right place at the right time. For example, verifying refuse collection routes or responding to customer claims.
- Charging Services, which allow operators to plan, monitor and analyse charging sessions. Live data makes it easy to oversee depot charging, while departure scheduling with pre-conditioning reduces battery wear and maximises range, and managers receive instant notifications if charging is interrupted.
Use case #2: Regional distribution
Deliveries to multiple retail stores within a region often come with tight time windows. This application combines regional highway driving with urban drop-offs. Valuable services include:
- Fleet Position, which provides real-time vehicle tracking, helping fleet managers confirm that deliveries are on schedule and enabling re-routing if traffic congestion threatens delivery times.
- Driver Evaluation, which allows managers to monitor driving behaviour and identify opportunities for improvement. Efficient driving can lower energy consumption by up to 20 percent, reduce wear and tear on components, and extend battery life, which directly reduces operational costs.
- Scania Charging Access, which provides access to a growing network of high-power public charging stations dedicated to trucks. It offers reliable en-route charging, simple one-card payments and full transparency on costs and usage.
- Scania Driver app, which gives drivers greater control. They can monitor charging remotely during breaks and track deviations, and stay informed in real time.
