Battery-electric Scania truck for bulk transport.

Scania in landmark deal to sell 105 battery-electric trucks to Wibax

11 JUNE 2026

The agreement, which also includes fleet optimisation services, is the EU’s largest electric truck deal for bulk transport to date and marks the next stage in the electrification of heavy-duty transport in the Nordic region.

Scania has signed a deal to sell 105 new electric trucks to Nordic bio-oils and liquid chemicals specialist Wibax.

The deal, which is the EU's largest single sales of electric trucks for bulk transport to date, reflects Wibax and Scania’s shared long-term belief that a large-scale electric truck fleet is the solution that best meets the needs of a sustainable, reliable and economical transport operation.

This new agreement also includes solutions aimed at optimising total cost of operations, with plans to explore insights into electric charging solutions, solar power production and new business models. This will help Wibax maximise all the possibilities of electrification and confirms the company as a leader in the shift to sustainable transport.

Why Wibax chose Scania for its electrification journey

There were several reasons why Wibax chose Scania as its key partner on its electrification journey, including the truck manufacturer’s commitment to a comprehensive electrification strategy and ecosystem of products and services.

Jonas Wiklund, CEO of Wibax Group, says, “We need to work with a supplier with whom we can work with strategically and for the long-term, and that’s Scania.

“We want to electrify our fleet quickly, and with Scania we can ensure that we introduce the new technology as quickly as possible to be able to achieve electrification in the timeline we have set out.”

Jonas Wiklund also cites Scania’s commitment to electrifying the heaviest trucks in its portfolio as well as the lighter ones, something which he says is critical for the types of heavy transport assignments it routinely makes for customers in Sweden and Finland.

“We believe that in the long-term electrification will be more effective for the heavy, relatively short and repetitive transports that are the core part of our logistics,” he explains.

Wibax deal a ‘lighthouse’ for other transporters

Scania sees this deal not only as important for its sheer size but also in terms of what it means for the progress of electrification within the EU, especially the Nordic Region. It acts as a ‘lighthouse’ for other transport companies considering the shift towards electric vehicles.

Tobias Ejderhamn, Head of Global Sales, e-truck solutions, says, “We are delighted to sign this landmark agreement with Wibax, who share Scania’s goals of decarbonising transport in combination with enhanced operational efficiency. We see this as proof of Wibax’s confidence in Scania as a trusted partner for the scaling up of its eMobility operations.

“For Scania, such a large deal underlines our profound belief that battery-electric vehicles represent a strategic opportunity for our customers, especially with regards to future-proofing fleets to meet developing emissions standards.”
