Poland’s first electric car transporter hits the road

16 OCTOBER 2026

Poland's first battery electric car transporter demonstrates how collaboration, innovation and the right customer partnership are helping electrify one of heavy transport's most specialised applications.

Electrification is steadily expanding into new transport segments. Now, it has reached vehicle logistics.

Scania, STS Logistic and Rolfo bring electric vehicle transport to Poland

Together with STS Logistic and specialist bodybuilder Rolfo, Scania Poland has delivered Poland's first battery-electric truck designed specifically for transporting vehicles. The milestone demonstrates how battery-electric technology can support demanding logistics operations while helping customers reduce emissions across the automotive value chain.

STS Logistic, one of Poland's leading automotive logistics operators, sees the new vehicle as another step in its sustainability journey. As automotive manufacturers increasingly focus on reducing emissions from production through to delivery, transport providers are also looking for practical ways to decarbonise their operations.

The project brought together Scania Poland, STS Logistic and Rolfo to develop a complete transport solution tailored to the customer's daily operations. Based on a Scania P270E B4x2LB battery-electric chassis with Rolfo System 3.17 bodywork, the vehicle has been configured for efficient vehicle transport while maintaining the functionality and driver ergonomics expected from a modern car transporter.

"Electrification of heavy transport is no longer limited to urban distribution. We are increasingly talking to customers about specialist applications in which an electric vehicle can operate in a real, demanding operational model," says Paweł Kurzawa, Electromobility Director at Scania Poland.

"The joint project of Scania Poland, STS Logistic and Rolfo shows that vehicle transport can also be an area for implementing zero-emission solutions."

Testing an electric car transporter in real-world logistics operations

For STS Logistic, the project is about more than introducing a new truck. It is an opportunity to understand how battery-electric vehicles perform in everyday vehicle logistics.

The trial gives STS Logistic the opportunity to assess how electric trucks can meet the demands of everyday vehicle transport

"As an operator specialising in vehicle logistics, we constantly analyse solutions that can increase the efficiency of our operations and respond to customer expectations. What matters to us is not only the technology itself, but also the opportunity to test it in practice and assess its potential in our fleet," says Paweł Szumski, CEO, STS Logistic Sp. z o.o..

The collaboration also highlights the importance of specialist expertise when electrifying niche transport applications.

"A car transporter is a specialist vehicle in which every element matters. Cooperation with Scania and STS Logistic made it possible to prepare a solution that responds to the operator's needs and the nature of vehicle transport," says Svetlana Jitarasu, Area Manager, ROLFO SPA.

Before the official handover, the vehicle was collected in Italy by an STS Logistic driver and driven to Poland with cargo on board. The journey provided an early opportunity to test charging planning, driving comfort and vehicle performance over a longer distance. Together with the operational data gathered in daily service, these insights will help shape future electrification projects in specialised transport.
