Leadership at Scania

Effective leadership is crucial for Scania to fulfil our purpose of driving the shift towards sustainable transport, and to meet the demands of the future transport system. We need leaders throughout the organisation who can motivate people to meet targets, inspire them to learn new skills and help them grow and improve.

What is leadership at Scania?

For Scania, leadership is based on our core values, principles and working methods, which together form the basis of our corporate culture, “The Scania Way”.

We base leadership on the principle that the company should be a learning organisation. This creates an open climate where staff and management work together to bring about improvements, empowering our people to develop their skills and giving them individual responsibility to think and use their unique talents to improve Scania.

Our leadership model supports Scania’s 5,000 managers to build proactive and high performing teams reaching our goals in a systematic way.

Leadership training at Scania

Scania Academy is our dedicated skills development institute, and we have invested considerably in training programmes for our managers.

Courses include training that ranges from new to more experienced managers, honing skills in leadership capabilities and developing a strategic mindset.

Such programmes are complemented by online training modules and resources, allowing people to constantly refresh and update their knowledge and skills. Progress is monitored via regular employee surveys, equality and diversity talks, and meetings.

Who are Scania’s leaders?

Scania values diversity and includes as many people as possible in leadership positions, to bring in as broad a skills base as possible; our Skill Capture programme is key to achieving inclusion. Diversity ensures that we will continue to reflect our customer base, make us more open to new ideas, and blend experiences and backgrounds for our customers and the company’s benefit.

Where we go from here is largely down to the leaders of today and tomorrow – the challenges they address, the choices that they make and the responsibilities that they take. As a leader at Scania you will have numerous opportunities to develop yourself, and us.
