Scania unveils latest status of Rugao factory at CIIE 2024

Shanghai, China – November 6, 2024 Scania, a global leader in sustainable transportation solutions and a subsidiary of TRATON GROUP, returns to the China International Import Expo (CIIE) to present the latest progress regarding its highly anticipated Rugao factory. This event features a follow-up video that highlights significant progress within the facility, including equipment installation, as the factory approaches full operational readiness.
Setting a Sustainability Benchmark: China’s First CO2-Neutral Commercial Vehicle Plant
In line with Scania’s commitment to sustainable transport solutions, the Rugao factory is being built to achieve CO2 neutrality, making it the first commercial vehicle manufacturing plant in China with this designation. Scania is implementing advanced environmental practices and collaborating closely with suppliers to ensure that the factory’s sustainability goals extend across the entire supply chain. This endeavor aligns seamlessly with China's national goals for fostering a greener economy while reinforcing Scania's leadership role in sustainable manufacturing.

Local R&D integrating into Chinese innovation Eco-system
Scania has established a first-class R&D team in China to explore and integrate unique technologies within the industry. This marks the first time Scania has created such a large R&D center outside of Sweden. Through this dedicated facility, Scania is well-positioned to accelerate innovation, foster partnerships, and develop products that are tailored to China's distinctive transport ecosystem. The above-mentioned research activities will facilitate the efficient transformation of achievements within China, which may also be applied across TRATON GROUP's global production system.
