Today Scania, a member of the TRATON GROUP, is breaking ground for land plot II, adding powertrain production to the Scania project in Rugao.
“On land Plot II, there will be engine, transmission, axle assembly with corresponding paint, test and logistics processes. With Plot I and II combined, we will have a complete production chain in Rugao with an annual capacity of 50 000 units”, explains Ruthger de Vries, President of Scania Industrial Operations Asia” and this factory is of course committed to reaching zero CO2 emissions”.
It shows Scania’s commitment of long-term investment and development in Rugao. It also shows Scania’s full trust in the Chinese heavy duty truck market.
“The Chinese transport market is becoming more sophisticated where transport companies increasingly are focusing on special segments in the transport ecosystem. Scania’s presence in China will make such customers even more competitive”, says Jimmy Renström, Managing Director of Scania Sales (China) Co., Ltd.
Scania is for six consecutive years the recipient of the European Green Truck Award, and as a 132-year-old world leading brand, producing trucks in Rugao with the latest driveline technology, Scania will further contribute to the sustainable development of China’s transport industry.
