Scania K-chassis
Low entry
The low entry Scania K-chassis meet the needs of operators on every continent. With total design and production control over chassis and powertrain, Scania delivers unrivalled reliability, durability and performance.
Chassis frame
The strengthened front axle, in combination with the ability to now use wider tyres, means that load capacity is increased from 7.1 to 8.2 tonnes. This allows for higher passenger capacity. It also enables optimised weight distribution between the front and rear axles, which is not least important for electrical and gas vehicles. Additionally, chassis weight has been reduced by 2% (>100 kg) without compromising on robustness, contributing to lower fuel consumption.
Powertrain technology
The highly dependable, durable, and robust powertrains are available in battery electric and ICE configurations, both offering highly energy efficient propulsion. While the BEV uses a powerful 300 kW (peak) e-machine, the combustion powertrains enable fuel savings of up to 21% compared to the previous generation.
Sustainable range
The BEV variant can be specified with up to 520 kWh installed battery capacity, providing a range of over 500 km in optimal conditions. Our battery packs are developed in partnership with Northvolt and assembled in-house to reach premium quality as well as environmental and social sustainability, both in the production process and supply chain.
Articulation control
Scania has an industry-leading control system for articulated variants that uses wheelspin control, traction control, articulation damping system and a patented sway control. This prevents instability and jack-knifing while also facilitating handling, manoeuvrability, and safe driving in slippery conditions and during lane changes at high speeds.
The driver workplace
The Smart Dash is our new central hub for an enhanced, next generation driving experience. Providing seamless integration with all other touchpoints in the Scania digital ecosystem, it is designed to empower drivers with valuable insight to help them drive in an informed, efficient and safe manner. As an innovation platform for future fleet, vehicle and driver needs, the Scania Smart Dash Ecosystem will be the key enabler of new digital services as they develop, such as charging services for battery electric vehicles, departure scheduling, charge monitoring, range support and more.
Front suspension technology
Without compromising on passenger capacity, the new independent front suspension offers excellent passenger comfort and enables a wider aisle (900 mm) – resulting in new layout possibilities, increased passenger flow, space and accessibility. The new rigid front suspension also increases passenger capacity and offers good passenger comfort.
Product options
The low entry Scania K-chassis is available in 2-axle, 3-axle and articulated versions, both with independent front suspension or rigid front axle. For more options see also Scania low floor C-chassis and Scania high floor K-chassis for urban transport operations.
