Scania scholarships recognise outstanding leadership and potential
19 AUGUST 2026
Every year, Scania awards scholarships to three employees who stand out for their strong leadership, development potential and ability to contribute to Scania’s success.
In 2026, the scholarships are awarded to Jenny Lithén, Head of Business Control, Chassis, Cabs and Buses; Jonas Hagström, Head of Digitalisation and IT, China; and Tobias Rydin, Head of Strategy & Business Development, Scania Logistics and Head of TRATON Inbound Logistics. Each recipient is awarded SEK 160,000 to be used for their development.
The story behind the Scania scholarships
The scholarships honour Gösta Nilsson, Erik Nilsson and Eva Nyström, who each made important contributions to Scania. Eva became Scania’s first female engineer and was known for her innovative and sustainable mindset, while Gösta and Erik helped shape Scania’s culture, strategy and long-term vision.
The Erik Nilsson Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded in administration, finance or marketing, and goes to Jenny Lithén, Head of Business Control, Chassis, Cabs and Buses.
Jenny is a leader who inspires her peers through her actions and her vision, consistently encouraging collaboration and fostering a culture of accountability within her team. Her ability to bring complex projects to successful completion, even under pressure, demonstrates resilience and strategic thinking. Jenny’s leadership is not just about directing others; it is about empowering her colleagues to reach their full potential.
“Leadership is a continuous learning journey, and I’m fortunate to be surrounded by inspiring leaders and colleagues who encourage collaboration and continuous growth,” she says.
In her role, Jenny serves as a role model not only for her team but for the broader organisation. She maintains close integration with both operations and management, bridging gaps and fostering seamless collaboration.

The Gösta Nilsson Scholarship
Jonas Hagström, Head of Digitalisation and IT, China, has been awarded the scholarship within technology, as he has deep and broad IT expertise, a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to think and act with a long-term perspective.
He joined Scania in 2011 and has since held several managerial positions. He operates with integrity and is a highly appreciated leader, with an ability to engage and inspire others around shared goals. Jonas also thrives in complex and dynamic environments where he consistently delivers strong results.
“I have had the privilege to work with leaders and colleagues who have challenged me, and who put their trust in me,” Jonas says.
Scania also runs in the family: his father works at TRATON, while his mother, brother and wife work at Scania. Together, they have more than 100 years of experience. “I have always lived a Scania life, and my ambition is that Scania should outlive me.”

The Eva Nyström Scholarship
A scholarship for innovation and sustainability goes to Tobias Rydin, Head of Strategy & Business Development, Scania Logistics and Head of TRATON Inbound Logistics.
Tobias has proved that reducing environmental impact doesn’t have to come at the expense of efficiency and cost.
He helped shift the focus from short-term financial savings to long-term environmental responsibility, shaping a new way of thinking where green solutions are not just preferred, but prioritised.
“A decade ago, when we started to take on sustainability more seriously, it was about what it meant for us working with commercial vehicles and logistics. Nowadays, sustainability is an obvious part of how we make decisions and develop our operations.”
Tobias has pushed for bold and practical solutions to move the industry forward and has become a pioneer by including CO2 as one important element in the sourcing process.
