Organic recycling company enhances its transport operations with Scania Financial Services.
From its 2004 origins as a bio-waste solutions provider with a remit to reduce the use of inorganic fertilisers on farms, Bonby, north Lincolnshire-based Bioganix Limited has emerged and developed into a multi-faceted environmental services company with operations spanning food and beverage waste collection, liquid and solid waste processing, oil extraction, feedstock supply to anaerobic digestion, and total waste management.
As part of its growth, and in order to enable greater control of its service-delivery, the business decided to take some of its transport operations in-house in 2023. Beginning with four used Scania trucks, the funding for which was provided by Scania Financial Services, (SFS), Bioganix soon proved this decision to be well founded and advanced to new vehicle acquisition, with funding once again provided by SFS. Today, the firm operates seven Scania vehicles and the relationship between Bioganix and SFS extends beyond truck acquisition alone with five Sayers bulk tankers funded by hire purchase agreements from SFS added to the fleet.
“When we opted to take some of our transport operations in-house, we took the decision to go with Scania,” says Bioganix Managing Director Lewis Dodds. “We required funding for the vehicles and the convenience of dealing with SFS soon became apparent, for as the funding-arm of the manufacturer it meant we effectively had a single source of supply.
“The fact that SFS is also happy to fund non-Scania products was a real bonus for us as, again, it meant more convenience. That said, we always compare rates, but SFS came out on top as they were able to finance our trailers at the same rate as our trucks.
“Another important aspect to our dealings with SFS is that our team finds them very easy to deal with – the communication between our organisations is excellent. We have the mobile numbers of their key people and their Business Manager Alex Lomas is always extremely responsive and comes back with the answers we need quickly, which is really important for a growing business. They are also very competitive, flexible in their approach and should any issues arise, they have the ability to solve them rapidly. It’s a great service – we’re very pleased with our relationship with SFS.”
