P. R. SHUTTLEWORTH HAULAGE LIMITED
Growing haulier benefits from Scania Financial Services one-stop shop approach
When Paul Shuttleworth started up in haulage, he did what many other owner-drivers do; he bought a truck, insured it and began working as a sub-contractor for larger haulage operators. For Paul, that was back in 2007. Since then his company has grown and developed four-fold – he now operates four Scania trucks and provides employment a team of four in addition to himself.
Paul is based in the Merseyside town of Newton-le-Willows and was introduced to Scania Financial Services (SFS) by Haydock Commercial Vehicles Limited, his local Scania dealer. Over the years, SFS has assisted with vehicle funding, and most recently has helped P. R. Shuttleworth Haulage save a small fortune on insurance, as Paul explains:
"As the business grew and I added vehicles, I took out an insurance policy for each truck individually," he says. "I ended up paying a huge amount every year. So when the renewals last came around, I asked my insurance provider if they could help me reduce the amount of my premiums. The answer came back no, which was quite disappointing really. I was also unimpressed that my renewal notice had came through very late in the day, not giving me much opportunity to look for an alternative. When I mentioned this to my local SFS representative Darren Mottram, he told me that Scania Financial Services are an appointed representative of C&C Insurance Brokers Limited and offered to put me in touch to see what they could do.
"The response was incredible. Not only did they manage to reduce my quote by £1,500 straight away, they also said they would see if they could help further by getting me reclassified as a mini-fleet. I was delighted when they came back to me and said they could – and that by changing from a vehicle-by-vehicle insurance buyer to a mini-fleet would save me a staggering £11,000 – it was incredible, I couldn't believe what I was hearing!
"I can't thank Darren enough for his help. Generally speaking, I cannot fault the service SFS provide and their tie-up with C&C Insurance Brokers is a massive help to an operator like me who's busy running his business and simply doesn't have much time to shop around for better solutions – I have to say a big fan of SFS and their one-stop approach to customer service!"
