DES CONNOR JOINS SCANIA FINANCIAL SERVICES
Des Connor joins Scania Financial Services as the new Relationship Manager for the South West.
With a wealth of experience in the waste management, financial services and construction industries, Des Connor joined Scania Financial Services at the end of 2020 and continues his career in the South West region where he has been working for 20 years. During that time he has developed a reputation for reliability and excellent customer service in the construction and commercial vehicle sales industries. His expertise has proved vital to customers as they navigate their way through a third national lockdown.
‘One of the advantages of working so closely with the rest of the Scania Financial Services team is that we are much more flexible when it comes to the finance packages we can put together for the customer. My role is to find out exactly what their financial position is, how long they intend to keep their trucks for and what their long term goal is in terms of owning or leasing them. We can then tailor a package which is unique to their business which is ideal in the current environment as everyone is facing different challenges’
There is no shortage of support and business expertise either:
‘I’m only in my first few months here but I’ve found that Scania Financial Services takes the term ‘relationship’ very seriously. We don’t just look at funding Scania’s trucks or assets, it can be any make that the customer is looking to purchase in the future. We provide a wide range of finance solutions, utilise asset finance where applicable and provide support with other aspects such as strategy and planning. We also offer insurance solutions such as GAP, RTI and Fleet. In effect we become a trusted business partner which is something I really enjoy about the job’
When he’s not working Des enjoys going on long walks with his twin daughters and going sailing. He is also a keen practitioner of the Japanese martial art, Aikido.
