Strong market confidence in Scania NEXT ERA product debut in China
28 NOVEMBER 2025
Scania and TRATON GROUP has unveiled NEXT ERA, an ‘In China, with China’ tractor product range for the world’s largest truck market. Pre-authorised dealers have already reserved all 1,000 launch edition trucks, demonstrating strong market confidence in the product even before deliveries commence in March 2026.
NEXT ERA reflects Scania’s long-term strategy in China: to embed the company in the local market, strengthen our global competitiveness, and deliver value to customers through dual commercial offerings:
- Scania’s global premium products offer customised solutions to specialised customer needs.
- NEXT ERA is specially developed for the Chinese high-volume long-haul segment.
This ensures a balanced and flexible commercial approach, which supports innovation, customer focus, and operational excellence. NEXT ERA will be produced at Scania’s industrial hub in Rugao and marketed through a dedicated NEXT ERA commercial organisation, independent of the group’s existing sales channels.
“This additional commercial offering adds to Scania’s commitment to sustainable and high-quality growth in China. Through this standardised product and service portfolio, NEXT ERA supports our customers’ business growth and reinforces Scania and TRATON’s long-term presence in the market.” says Camilla Dewoon, Head of Scania Group China.
Engineered for China, at China speed
Developed by our local R&D team, NEXT ERA meets the specific needs of Chinese operators. It offers optimised fuel efficiency, reliability, a driver-centric cab, and integration with local digital ecosystems for enhanced safety and operational efficiency. The TD13 engine, based on TRATON’s Common Base Engine (CBE), delivers up to 500 hp and 2,550 Nm, paired with an advanced gearbox and Predictive Cruise Control to ensure optimised total cost of ownership.
Customer confidence and commercial network
NEXT ERA commercial network is launched with approximately 80 outlets and 150 service vehicles, designed to scale with customer demand. The rapid order reservations highlight strong dealer and market confidence in Scania’s strategy and product offering.
“The development of NEXT ERA required deep immersion in China’s transport ecosystem. Customer clinics, real-world route testing, and continuous dialogue with dealers and fleet owners ensured the Customer First principle is embedded throughout the product.” says Sonia Ederstål, Scania Industrial Operations Asia and Head of R&D China.
