Modern buses convince more to travel together
16 MARCH 2018
This month, the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius has put its new Scania Citywide buses into public transport operations.
Residents in Vilnius are now being offered a new level of comfort when using public transport. The first of 50 articulated Scania Citywide LF buses have just been put into operation on four of the city’s main bus routes.
“Our residents and visitors will notice the change and will be more inclined to opt for public transport,” says the Vice-Mayor of Vilnius, Linas Kvedaravičius.
The first 18 articulated buses, with 48 seats and room for 88 standing passengers, started services on 10 March with the full delivery to be completed by June. This constitutes not only Scania’s largest bus order ever to Lithuania, but also to the entire Baltic region. Scania Lietuva will ensure repair and maintenance for the new fleet.

The buses come equipped with wi-fi, mobile charging facilities and video surveillance. Additionally, they offer accessibility for persons with disabilities, elderly people and parents with prams and pushchairs.
The drivers will also appreciate the added comfort. “We offer jobs for drivers in modern buses with competitive wages, as well as the opportunity to improve their driving skills,” says Director Vladas Dapkus of operator Transrevis.
