Our culture: The Scania Way

Our value creation is underpinned by our corporate culture, which we call The Scania Way. Deeply ingrained in our business, this culture is based on six core values that reflect our way of thinking and guide our day-to-day actions and decision-making. They support us in creating value for our stakeholders and ultimately, in our aim to be the leader in the shift towards a sustainable transport system. 

Our core values form the basis for all we do at Scania. They have been firmly anchored and integrated in Scania’s operations for generations. Our core values reflect and embody our thinking, our way of carrying out work and how we relate to each other and to others we meet outside the company – customers, suppliers, partners and society at large.


The core values guide our actions, support us in creating value for the company’s stakeholders and ultimately, in the aim to be a leader in the shift towards a sustainable transport system. We have to work closer together, embrace diverse perspectives, and find new ways to cooperate within and between our traditional organisations.

The customers’ operations and efficiency are at the centre of our value chain; from R&D, sourcing and production to sales, delivery and financing of vehicles, engines and services.

Respect for the individual

We treat others the way we want to be treated. We listen and understand. From drivers of our vehicles to all of our employees and society at large, the individual stands at the centre of all that we do. Embracing diversity and inclusion are fundamental aspects of this value since we stand stronger together. Differences in, perspective, and experience are essential for every aspect of the Scania Way. We therefore seek to utilize the knowledge, ability and ambition of each individual to continuously improve what we do, and how we do it.

Elimination of waste

With a strong focus on continuous improvements throughout our entire organisation, we ensure safe and high quality output in all areas. Deviations from targets and standards help us to identify and eliminate waste.
