TRATON Group is opening the door for start-ups and growth companies to collaborate on two concrete innovation areas where new technologies can make a real impact. Through the Combient Foundry, TRATON is now inviting partners to pilot and validate solutions either within AI-powered vehicle component diagnostics or AI-driven customer insight generation.
TRATON Group brings together leading commercial vehicle brands including Scania, MAN, International, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and is part of the Combient network – a Nordic-based industry collaboration focused on accelerating transformation in areas such as automation, artificial intelligence, analytics, and open innovation. The Combient Foundry connects start-ups with Nordic industry leaders to jointly create new services and solutions in real-world settings.
Two pilot cases are now open to apply
1. Wear Progression Assessment
Technicians performing visual inspection of a heavy-duty truck during maintenance.
AI-powered solution to transform the labor-intensive and subjective process of vehicle component wear inspection into a standardized, data-driven diagnostic workflow. The envisioned solution will utilize automated mobile-based image recognition to classify bearing or bushing wear progression on a granular scale, empowering service technicians and product development teams with rapid and consistent wear insights.
The visual inspection of faults and wear in heavy vehicle components is currently a labor-intensive process reliant on the subjective judgment of individual technicians. The lack of an objective, digitalized process results in higher operational costs, inconsistent maintenance quality, and challenges in meeting the increasing demand for data-driven evidence in insurance and warranty claims.
We seek an AI-powered image recognition solution to quantify component wear on a 0–7 scale by autonomously unwrapping inner bearing or bushing surfaces into flat maps, segmenting functional zones, and classifying wear severity.
2. AI Customer Persona Agents
AI Customer Persona Agents
AI-driven solution that gives TRATON Group R&D teams fast and realistic access to the “voice of the customer” through lifelike AI customer persona agents as persistent and representative digital twins. The envisioned solution enables natural dialogue to pressure-test ideas, explore customer needs, and validate solution direction, while democratizing customer insights and reducing internal assumptions.
Formal personas often remain static and are not easily accessible, and insights may be scattered across text-heavy reports. AI-native solutions now enable the transformation of these insights into interactive, continuously available synthetic customer agents, allowing more teams across TRATON to engage with realistic customer voices beyond the most available and advocate ones.
We now seek startups or growth companies offering a mature AI persona solution to create and manage interactive, lifelike personas representing rich, nuanced customer or partner segments. These synthetic agents should support human-like, back-and-forth interactions to pressure-test ideas, explore customer needs and reactions, and validate solution direction.
