Maritimo: Powered by Scania

12 SEPTEMBER 2025

For more than two decades, Australian luxury yacht builder Maritimo has been crafting long-range motor yachts that embody performance, endurance and quality. At the heart of many of these vessels are Scania engines – chosen for their reliability, simplicity and fuel efficiency.

Founded by boat-building pioneer Bill Barry-Cotter, who has built boats for over 60 years, Maritimo produces around 40 yachts each year, ranging from 55 to 75 feet. From their base on the Gold Coast in Australia, the team continues to push the boundaries of design while staying true to a philosophy of over-engineering for strength and longevity.

Scania has been a trusted partner to Maritimo since 2011, supplying high-output pleasure craft engines such as the DI16 1200 hp and DI13 900 hp. For Maritimo, reliability is non-negotiable – and Scania delivers a power package that keeps owners confident at sea, whether cruising local waters or crossing oceans.

As Bill Barry-Cotter himself puts it: “Reliability is singly the most important thing to us. With Scania, we have it.”
