Our apprentices are our future, and we are actively seeking enthusiastic and passionate individuals to join our programmes. We offer apprenticeships for HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicles) Technicians and Customer Advisors (incorporating parts and customer service).

Our apprenticeships

Heavy Vehicle Technician

As a Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician you will service, inspect and repair a wide range of commercial vehicles (including trucks, buses and marine engines). The nature of the work ranges from replacing simple parts through to solving complex faults with the use of diagnostic methods and equipment. Day-to-day tasks are constantly changing, driven by the introduction of ever more complex technologies and processes.

 

It’s a rewarding, dynamic and in-demand career so if you enjoy getting hands on, this could be the apprenticeship you’ve been looking for.  Not only will you earn while you learn, but you will also gain a nationally recognised qualification. This is a great way to start a rewarding career in the automotive industry.

Duration: 36 months

 

During your heavy vehicle apprenticeship programme, you will be required to attend Scania’s state-of-the-art training academy, the biggest automotive training facility in the UK. You will visit the training academy for 18 separate weeks (Mon – Fri) over the duration of the 32 month programme. All travel expenses to and from the academy, together with the costs of the hotel accommodation, are paid for by the employer.

As Scania’s dedicated training partner, Remit will deliver comprehensive training to all apprentices periodically throughout the programme. During these training sessions, your Development Coach will review your progress, set SMART targets, and identify any additional support that you may require.

As a result, you will achieve:

  • IMI Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician
  • IRTEC Accreditation

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 4/C)
  • Maths (grade 4/C)

Customer Advisor

Our Customer Advisor apprenticeship combines the best of both worlds, offering a unique opportunity to gain experience and knowledge in two essential areas of our business: front of house Customer Service and the technical world of Parts. Through a blend of hands-on experience and structured training, you’ll develop outstanding communication skills, learn about our business and understand what it takes to deliver excellent customer service to our valued customers.


With the support of a dedicated mentor, you can earn while you learn and gain a nationally recognised qualification in customer service, what a great way to start a rewarding career in the automotive industry.

Duration: 24 months

 

The customer advisor apprenticeship role has a duration of 24 months with quarterly residential training sessions in the first 18 months, including modules from Scania’s associated commercial programmes. All travel expenses to and from the academy, together with the costs of the hotel accommodation, are paid for by the employer.

 

As Scania’s dedicated training partner, Remit will deliver comprehensive training to all apprentices periodically throughout the programme. Working in partnership

Scania works with national training provider Remit to find our next generation of talented individuals.

 

All our apprenticeships will be delivered through a combination of theoretical and practical learning. Apprentices will develop their practical skills at our dedicated training academy, which is specifically designed to provide hands-on experience.

 

Throughout their training, apprentices will be supported by development coaches from Remit and workplace mentors to ensure a well-rounded and supportive learning environment.

Apprentice induction residential

Each year our newest Apprentices are invited to enjoy a  residential stay at Lindley Trust in the Peak District.

 

Here they will get the opportunity to meet their peers, learn some new skills and experience Scania's core values.

Claiming gold

The Apprentice of the Year competitions are not for the faint-hearted. This year ten finalists split across two competitions battled it out to grab the top spot on the podium and be named the winner.

 

After two days of close and nerve-shredding competition, where each finalist took on five gruelling challenges, the winners were crowned on the night of graduation.

New beginnings

Graduating from your apprenticeship with Scania is just the beginning of your journey with us. The graduation ceremony marks a significant milestone, honouring the dedication, hard work, and development that our apprentices have demonstrated throughout their journey.
