Tates Coaches opts for four Scania Irizar i6s and a Scania Interlink coach

28 July 2021

Luton-based coach operator, Tates Coaches Limited, has purchased four late model used Scania Irizar i6 coaches which have been converted to PSVAR specification by the Irizar factory in Spain.  In addition, the company has taken a late model used Scania Interlink coach to replace the existing Scania Omni Express in its fleet.  All vehicles in this order have been supplied by Scania (Great Britain) Limited's Worksop-based bus and coach team, which also managed the PSVAR conversion on behalf of Tates Coaches.

"Scania's ability to provide PSVAR-ready vehicles proved to be the most efficient, quickest and cost-effective way forward for us," comments Tates Coaches Operations Manager, Rachel Rees.  "Other suppliers were unable to match the service offered to us by Lee Wale of Scania, and the entire process went extremely smoothly from start to finish.  We're delighted with the outcome; we already operate a number of Irizar vehicles, so the Scania-based i6s have slotted straight into our fleet and match the quality image we work hard to project.

"In addition to work such as rail replacement and the home-to-school requirements which come into force next year, the PSVAR specification enables us to serve our large database of disabled groups better.  We have specialised in providing accessible mini- and midi-buses vehicles for the past 25 years, and now we have the capability to move larger groups requiring this service in a single vehicle.  The Interlink is a high capacity executive specification vehicle which will be primarily used on our private hire operations."

The four Scania Irizar i6s are based on K 360 IB4x2 chassis. Fitted with 53 seats, each vehicle is equipped with a centre sunken toilet, DVD player with two monitors and Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels.

The Scania Interlink HD coach is based on a Scania K 410 EB6x2*4 14.1-metre overall length chassis.  It has 63 reclining half-leather seats with three-point seatbelts, a centre toilet, drinks machine, DVD player with two monitors, climate control air conditioning and Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels.
