Team Germany finishes first in Scania Top Team competition

24 APRIL 2023

Out of 8,000 service technicians and parts experts from 70 countries, the team from Germany finished in first place and received the prize of EUR 50,000.

“Hard work pays off,” says the winner Team Germany who was one of twelve service teams that had qualified through regional and national finals for the eleventh international Top Team World Final. Since its start in 1989, it has developed from a national training event into today’s global training programme with focus on practical and theoretical skills. The finalists were: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sweden, and Taiwan, and Germany took the victory. Second place was New Zealand followed by Brazil. For Team Germany, who had won both the regional and European finals, the pressure for the World Final was high.

Service teams are vital

It is well-known that our service teams are vital for Scania’s success. Their dedication, knowledge, and efficiency give value to our customers, making sure that their vehicles are back on the road. The Scania Top Team competition is a way of highlighting the importance of service personnel. There is a shortage of service technicians in the world. Scania alone needs to recruit more than 1,000 service technicians annually in the coming years. “Top Team is a very good experience. If you get the chance – do it!” says Team Germany to other service teams around the globe.

The competition

Scania Top Team begins at the team’s workshop with theoretical challenges. The best teams advance to the national final where theoretical exercises are supplemented with practical exercises. Winners of the national finals meet at the international regional finals. From here, only 12 teams will make it to the world finals. Competition exercises require knowledge, team spirit, and discipline. The competition format follows daily work patterns, the most essential objective being to satisfy the customer's needs.
