Scania gas buses for Mexico

5 SEPTEMBER 2019

The Puebla Bus Rapid Transit system, established in 2015, each day transports 250,000 passengers. The 32-kilometre Red Urbana de Transporte Articulado RUTA) system in the southern Mexican city of Puebla, with a population of 1.6 million, was established in 2015.

Since 2015, 29 articulated Scania diesel buses are in operation along the RUTA and have now been supplemented by 37 Euro 6 gas buses, the cleanest and greenest technology available. Of these, 12 are articulated with Marcopolo bodies and 12 normal 12-metres buses bodybuilt by Mexico’s Ayco.

“For Latin America in particular, gas is ideal for public transport both because of the competitive price and the favourable environmental impact,” says Enrique Enrich, Managing Director of Scania Mexico.
