Iconic Dala style truck
7 FEBRUARY2019
The Scania Dala truck is a rare item owned by a privileged few. Carved in 1996, the truck was commissioned for the bonneted T-series launch.
Invitees were welcomed to the Dalarna region in Sweden to test drive this famed truck around Lake Siljan. The red-painted wooden Dala horse is an iconic symbol of Sweden. This traditional toy made its international debut at the 1939 World’s Fair in New York and has since been globally associated with Sweden.
The horses have been hand-carved in the small villages of Dalarna since the 17th century and the present design dates back 150 years. Production is centred on the village of Nusnäs with an annual production exceeding 200,000.
