3 peaks training ramps up
29th March 2019
The training has really accelerated as team TruckEast prepare take on the mighty 3 peaks challenge this May.
They will be ascending an unbelievable total of 3064 metres and driving 462 miles in one 24-hour period on Saturday 11th May. So, as you can imagine, the training they are doing now is really going to make or break their success. As well as improving the physical stamina they will have on the day, the intense preparation will help the team to stay mentally strong during the challenge since they have an idea of what to expect.
So, aside from the regular lengthened walks with the dogs, what has the training involved? Well, they have completed some trial climbs, hikes, and weight training in the gym. In fact, between them the 3 peaks challenge has technically already been achieved: albeit not in one go. However, climbing one of the peaks will be a walk in the park compared to doing all three when they’re sleep deprived with minimal daylight. But we’re sure the team will be strong enough to complete the trial in style!
We caught up with Danielle Baker, service advisor at Felixstowe, to find out how the training has been going. “After our first hike it really did daunt on me just how difficult this challenge will be; but after a few months of training I have already noticed the difference in my fitness. I feel excited but also very nervous about the challenge. I’m so determined to complete it; it will be such a huge achievement!”
We want to say a massive thank you for everyone’s support and well wishes so far. With just over 5 weeks to go until the challenge, the group need your support to get them to their fund-raising target of £5,000 for SENSE.
