Remit Group appointed as new apprenticeship provider

Scania GB Appoints Remit Group as new Apprenticeship Provider

Scania (Great Britain) Limited has announced its appointment of Remit Group, to deliver its apprenticeship programmes nationally.

Following a comprehensive tender and selection process, Scania (Great Britain) Limited has chosen Remit Group to deliver its technical and non-technical apprenticeship programmes across its UK dealership network.

Based in Nottingham, Remit Group is part owned by the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI) and has a long tradition of delivering automotive apprenticeship programmes for manufacturers, dealerships and independent garages.

Operating in England, Scotland and Wales, Remit Group delivers around 5,000 apprenticeships each year including a range of technical programmes for the automotive sector.  These include Heavy Vehicle, Light Vehicle, Body and Paint, Parts, MET and the new Autocare Standard.  Remit also deliver non-technical programmes including Business and Administration, Customer Service, IT, Management and Sales.

Apprentices that are recruited to the Scania (Great Britain) Limited dealer network under this new partnership will work towards achieving the Heavy Vehicle Technician Standard Level 3, as well as a range of programmes for those working in aftersales roles.

Delivery of the technical apprenticeships will include  a combination of theoretical and practical learning, with technical skills and behaviors developed at Scania’s state-of-the-art training centre in Loughborough and work-based practical experience supported by Remit’s Development Coaches and mentors from within the Scania dealership network.

Managing Director of Scania (Great Britain) Limited, Martin Hay, said, “Apprenticeships represent a key investment for the future of Scania and the wider automotive industry. We are delighted to have been able to select Remit Group as our new training provider and look forward to welcoming the next generation of apprentices into our dealer network.”

Sue Pittock, Remit’s Chief Executive, said, “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Scania to deliver such a prestigious manufacturer programme. We know that working together we can create a programme that develops high-calibre apprentices into the technicians of the future.  These technicians will add significant value to the Scania network and help fill a widening skills gap in the industry.”

This new partnership will see around 90 new Heavy Vehicle Technician Apprentices recruited across the Scania (Great Britain) Limited dealership network this summer, joining more than 170 apprentices currently working within the group.
