Scania (Great Britain) Limited welcomes truck drivers of all ages to compete and show their skills against fellow drivers across Europe in the Scania Driver Competition (SDC) 2018-19.

From Saturday 1 September, entrants can visit: to register to take part.

The competition will pit drivers from across 30 European countries in the battle for the grand prize – 100,000€ towards a new Scania truck of the winner’s choice.

Theory tests will begin in September with the UK national round in the form of practical tests taking place on Sunday 31 March 2019.

For Scania, the driver is the single most important asset for road safety and transport economy. Focus areas for the SDC are the environment, safety and fuel economy, as well as attracting the next generation of drivers. The winner will need to master them all in order to be in with a chance of winning.

Participants will be required to demonstrate their skills in defensive driving, fuel-efficient driving, check before driving, cargo securing, as well as fire and rescue. They also need to show their ability through various exercises, including the boardwalk, knock the king, reverse z/super z and the new water challenge.

This year, the previous age limit, which permitted drivers up to 35 years old, has been removed, and Scania welcomes all truck drivers, no matter their age.

The European final will be held in Södertälje on 25 May 2019.
