Pressroom: Top Team 2011
Scania’s workshop team from Prestons, Australia, has emerged victorious among the 10 remaining service teams from around the world. They can proudly call themselves the Scania Top Team.
Ten dedicated service teams took part in the Scania Top Team final over the week-end. Only one team, however, could be appointed the winner: Scania’s Prestons workshop near Sydney, Australia.
Despite a tough start at the first station, the Australian team managed to turn it around in dramatic fashion, improving their scores sufficiently to secure victory in the end.
“This is a dream come true,” said team leader Christopher Nobbs. “Everyone on the team put forth an amazing effort.”
Leif Östling, Scania’s President and CEO, attended the final. He emphasised the importance of dedication for service technicians.
“Dedicated staff is the key to a successful service business,” Östling says. “The teams that competed in this year’s Scania Top Team final are all good examples of this dedication. There are, however, many skilled service technician teams at Scania workshops all over the world; they pushed the finalists to excel and thus truly earn the title of Top Team.”

Top Team is a competition and training event arranged by Scania. This year, more than 6,000 service technicians in 46 countries all over the world participated. In addi-tion to promoting the vehicle service technician profession, Scania Top Team is a competition with the goal of developing best practices for working on Scania vehi-cles.
Scania Top Team is also used as a tool to improve the working conditions in Scania’s workshops. Good working conditions result in a more motivated staff that rotates less, which leads to a more professional and skilled workforce. Consequently, this workforce increases the quality of the work performed at workshops all over the world.
The first Scania Top Team competition was arranged in Sweden in 1989. Since then Top Team has grown, with participants from workshops all over the world. The 2011 edition was the eighth Top Team event held.
