Scania’s 12 litre engines will be used in 13 vessels which Marine AluTech Oy will deliver to the Finnish Border Guard.
On 5 June the Finnish Border Guard signed an agreement with Marine Alutech Oy concerning the delivery of 13 vessels, Watercat 1300 Patrol during 2009 and 2011.
“Together with our Finnish distributor, Scan Auto Oy, we have had a successful co-operation with Marine AluTech. This deal is yet another proof of the fact that Scania engines fulfils the requirements for performance and reliability that are put to engines in various marine applications, like the Watercat 1300 Patrol vessel”, says Mikael Lindner, Sales Director for marine segment, Scania Engines.
The Finnish Border Guard was the first to order Marine Alu Tech’s newly developed vessel. The two 12-litre Scania engines of 478kW and waterjet propulsion give the vessel a top speed of over 40 knots. The concept is the ideal solution for border patrolling, sea rescue and other activities performed by authorities, such as the
