Yanmar exhibits Scania engine for the first time
The first result of the co-operation between Scania Industrial and Marine Engines and Yanmar marine is shown for the first time at the Düsseldorf boat show in Germany. On display is a 12-litre marine engine for pleasure boats with 720 hp.
In October 2002, Scania and Yanmar signed an agreement that gives Yanmar the right to sell and market Scania marine engines to the pleasure boat market all over the world.
The première for Yanmar’s marketing of Scania engines is at the pleasure boat show Boot 2003 in Düsseldorf, Germany. On display is a 720-hp engine in Yanmar’s white livery and with the Yanmar logotype, based on the Scania 12-litre unit.
"Scania’s objective with the co-operation is to increase the volumes of engines for pleasure boats in a few years’ time," says Lennart Hjelte, Senior Vice President and responsible for Scania Industrial and Marine Engines. "The co-operation also means that we can concentrate on the marketing of engines for marine commercial applications, but still have a presence in the pleasure boat market."
In due course, Yanmar will sell marine engines based on all sizes of Scania engines. The first deliveries are expected in the second half of 2003.
