Scania takes over Brazilian distributors
Scania has from January 3 taken over Brazilian distributor groups Codema and Suvesa from the Battistella Group. The purchase includes 15 sales and service facilities in the states of São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul. Together Codema och Suvesa represent about 20 per cent of Scania’s sales in Brazil. A total of 420 employees are affected.
Brazil is Scania’s largest truck and bus market outside Europe. The transaction is part of Scania’s strategy of strengthening and expanding its market-leading position in the country.
"This is an important change in our distribution network, which enables us to move closer to customers and offer them even better support," says Flavio Mermejo, head of marketing at Scania Brazil.
Codema is one of the largest Scania distributors in the world. During 2000, the group delivered some 630 new trucks and 140 bus chassis in the Brazilian market.
At the same period Suvesa delivered more than 200 trucks and 60 bus chassis to the market.
