HGV Breakdown Technician
Location: TruckEast Witham, Unit 5, Moss Road, Witham, Essex, CM8 3UQ (and surrounding areas)

Job Type: Full-Time, 24 hour call out basis

Overview
The Breakdown Technician is responsible for attending disabled vehicles and returning them to their operation.
essential duties and job responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles & trailers
- Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on other equipment as and when required and fully trained
- Diagnose and rectify all types of faults
- Arrange 3rd party repairs/recoveries
- Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises
- Attend breakdowns on a 24-hour call out basis
- Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises/roadside
- Liaise with parts department to attain parts
- Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner,
- Ensure accurate reporting on the Scania assistance app (SOS)
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
- Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses
- Any other duties relevant to the smooth and efficient operation of the department as determined by your manager
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Technical qualification (City and Guilds level 3 or NVQ qualified technician)
- Current driving licence
- Ability to work within a team
- Ability to work within guidelines and to deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- High level of computer literacy
- Excellent customer service skills
- Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety requirements
- Ability to work under pressure and have a solution driven approach
