Location: TruckEast Witham, Unit 5, Moss Road, Witham, Essex, CM8 3UQ (and surrounding areas)

Job Type: Full-Time, 24 hour call out basis

 

Reporting to: Branch Manager

Overview

The Breakdown Technician is responsible for attending disabled vehicles and returning them to their operation.

essential duties and job responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles & trailers 
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on other equipment as and when required and fully trained 
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of faults 
  • Arrange 3rd party repairs/recoveries 
  • Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises 
  • Attend breakdowns on a 24-hour call out basis 
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises/roadside 
  • Liaise with parts department to attain parts 
  • Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner, 
  • Ensure accurate reporting on the Scania assistance app (SOS) 
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
  • Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses 
  • Any other duties relevant to the smooth and efficient operation of the department as determined by your manager

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical qualification (City and Guilds level 3 or NVQ qualified technician)
  • Current driving licence 
  • Ability to work within a team 
  • Ability to work within guidelines and to deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • High level of computer literacy 
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety requirements 
  • Ability to work under pressure and have a solution driven approach
