Meet our employee Ann Petersson
7 APRIL 2026
Meet our employee Ann Petersson who are acting group manager in the Primer Paint Shop who talk about leading with trust, clarity and security.
Ann's journey at Scania began in the Assembly. Even then, one thing struck her.
– I hadn't understood how many different professions and paths there are here. Not everyone is on a tightrope. It is much broader than you think.
After a few years, Ann wanted to try something different. She started working in commerce, where she stayed for a couple of years. The experience was important, but also clear.
– I'm not a loner. I like people and working in teams. In commerce, I learned pace and service, but I longed to go back.
When she returned to Scania, her interest in leadership grew. The driving force is still the same today: to see people take steps.
– When someone says "I can't" and then tries, and suddenly you see that it is possible. Something lights up in my eyes. That joy is hard to beat.
Over the years, Ann has learned that security is not something you have, it is something you build. Both in yourself and in the group.
– I've had to find the courage to be honest with myself. To dare to believe in myself even when others don't.
One thing came "the hard way”.
– Conflicts don't disappear because you're nice. You can be kind and clear at the same time. The two can go together.
Today, she is acting group manager for the Pre-treatment and Powder application. The role demands a lot, but she tries to keep the balance.
– I don't need to know everything. I want to lead without controlling. Trust others, but be clear about the direction.
She highlights her current manager, Joacim Nilsson, as an important person.
– He has a sense of security. "I see you and I'm here if you need it." It has shaped me and I try to lead in the same way.
And she also takes the same thought home with her.
– The children must be allowed to try and fail. Not everything has to be perfect after the first try. That's how we learn.
At home she has two children and a different pace. Ann likes to be at home, decorating, building and fixing. She likes to train early in the morning, usually strength but also running.
– I appreciate being alone, but I don't like being alone. There is a big difference. The silence is needed for me to function.
