SCANIA DELIVERS MALAYSIA’S FIRST NEW MODEL SPECIFICATION SCANIA SUPER TO MKRS GROUP OF COMPANIES AS ITS FIRST SCANIA TRUCK
Shah Alam – Scania Malaysia today handed over Malaysia’s first new model specification Scania Super R500A6x4NZ for general cargo transport to MKRS Group of Companies at Scania Malaysia in Bukit Jelutong. The vehicle is also MKRS Group’s first Scania truck. Dato’ Dr. Saravanan Karrupayah, Chairman of MKRS Group of Companies, received the key to the new truck from Joyce Antar, Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia.
The acquisition is supported by Scania Financial Services, providing MKRS Group with a tailored financing solution and greater peace of mind. This enables the company to manage its investment with confidence while remaining focused on expanding its operations and growing its business.

The 500hp Super 13-litre engine produces 2,650Nm of torque at just 900rpm, the highest torque at the lowest RPM in the industry. The engine is paired with the G33 gearbox, which provides maximum efficiency of up to 99.8% and more than 50% reduced internal losses. Together, the powertrain provides up to 8% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions.
The new model specification Scania Super R500A6x4NZ also provides more safety for MKRS Group. It comes with a suite of additional safety systems which are part of the Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), such as Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Vulnerable Road User Collision Warning (VRUCW) – side, Advanced Emergency Braking for vehicles and pedestrians (AEBp), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Driver Attention Support, Emergency Braking Indication, and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP).
The additional safety systems complement standard safety systems such as Electronic Braking System (EBS) with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Traction Control.
Inside, the Smart & Safe dashboard provides a digital interface for drivers to individualise their driver station. Its new built-in telematics unit and sensor platforms collect vehicle data for better insights, meet the latest safety and cybersecurity regulations, and enable the integration of advanced safety features.
For the driver’s comfort and convenience, the truck features a 12.9-inch interactive centre infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes with LED headlamps for improved visibility in dark conditions and greater durability.
“The new model specification Scania Super also comes with Inclusive Maintenance, which uses Scania’s proactive maintenance to help prevent time-consuming and costly problems. By individually optimising the different modules in the vehicle’s service plan, downtime can be planned and reduced to a minimum. This will help MKRS Group maximise uptime and reduce operating costs, allowing the company to focus on its core business,” said Phang Yee Fong, Dealer Director – Region Central, Scania Southeast Asia.
Supporting MKRS Group’s fleet operations, the purchase includes the Scania Fleet Management System Control Package. This will provide access to valuable insights and information about its fleet through the My Scania portal and Scania Fleet app. These digital tools provide essential data such as real-time positioning, vehicle performance monitoring, environmental reporting to track carbon dioxide emissions, service planning, defect reporting, and driver evaluation. This enables MKRS Group to quickly identify opportunities for improvement.

Drivers will also gain access to the My Scania digital ecosystem through the Scania Driver app. The app enables drivers to submit pre-departure checks, view essential vehicle data, monitor their driving time and performance, view service bookings, and locate the nearest Scania workshop,” said Joyce Antar.
