Scania Malaysia today delivered the first-ever Scania Smart & Safe truck to Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) Melaka, featuring next-generation connected driving experience and the latest in safety technology to empower both drivers and fleet managers. Ir. Mohamad Salzeli Bin Moktar, Director of Jabatan Kerja Raya Melaka received the keys to the new truck from Muhammad Jamil, Sales Manager, Public Fleet of Scania Malaysia, at JKR Melaka’s office.
“With the Scania Smart & Safe truck, our drivers will get a fully customisable digital driver workspace that seamlessly integrates with Scania Digital Services. This is very good for us as it allows us to gain access to real-time data and fleet insights through an intuitive interactive display, which gives us greater control over operations,” said Ir. Mohamad Salzeli.
The Scania Smart & Safe trucks showcase Scania’s commitment to harnessing smart technology to make future driving experiences smarter, safer, simpler, and more intuitive. Powered by a new premium digital dashboard, high-performance computing platform, and a faster 4G and 5G-ready telematics unit, these trucks make it easier than ever for drivers to interact with their vehicle and receive real-time support, ensuring the right decisions are made at the right time on the road.
Complemented by advanced sensor platforms that enable comprehensive vehicle data collection, this data is transformed into tailored insights and services that help JKR Melaka optimise uptime, boost profitability, and adopt a more data-driven approach to fleet management, while also meeting current and upcoming safety and cybersecurity regulations.
JKR Melaka’s Scania Smart & Safe truck is powered by Scania’s Super powertrain, offering fuel savings of up to 8% through its advanced and efficient combustion engine. Its 13-litre six-cylinder engine delivers 2,500Nm at just 900RPM, the highest torque at the lowest engine speed in the industry. Beyond performance, the truck is equipped with standard safety features including Reverse Alarm, Electronic Braking System (EBS) with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control, as well as steering wheel and side curtain airbags, ensuring enhanced protection for JKR Melaka’s drivers on the road.
"Scania’s suite of Digital Services play a vital role in helping customers enhance their business sustainability and profitability. With the Scania Smart & Safe truck, JKR Melaka gains access to vital data from their vehicle through Fleet Management System Control Package. This includes vehicle performance monitoring, real-time positioning, environmental reporting to track CO2 emissions and many more," said Jamil.
Drivers at JKR Melaka will also benefit from the Scania Driver app, which allows them to perform pre-departure checks, track driving time and performance, view service bookings, and locate the nearest Scania workshop. They can also improve their fuel efficiency with Scania ProDriver, a digital coaching service designed to help cultivate fuel-efficient driving habits and improve their driving skills.
