SP MARINE SERVICES IS THE FIRST IN MALAYSIA TO OPERATE A SCANIA EURO V FOR BULK ADR TRANSPORT EQUIPPED WITH ADAS

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, 8 August – SP Marine Services Sdn Bhd has set a new benchmark in Malaysia by being the first to operate a Scania Euro V truck for Bulk ADR Transport equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Receiving the key to the truck is Datuk K. Y. Mustafa, Director of SP Marine Services Sdn Bhd, from Rini Sabir Mässgård, Dealer Director of East Region, Scania Southeast Asia.

Building on this milestone, Captain Nadel Veldes Joseph, Senior Manager of Marine & Offshore Operations Department of Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd expressed pride in leading the way with the Scania Euro V for Bulk ADR Transport, equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). “We’re honoured to be the first to operate this vehicle, which meets ADR safety standards and features Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Hill Hold, and both steering wheel and side curtain airbags. These advanced safety features not only make our deliveries safer and more secure, but also reinforce our commitment to protecting lives, reducing operational risks, and setting new standards in sustainable transportation system,” said Captain Nadel .

Complementing its safety features, the Scania P410A6X4NA Euro V chassis also meets Flammable Liquide (FL) vehicle type requirements. It includes a speed limiter, exhaust heat cover, instrument panel controls, and an insulated ADR electrical system. Additionally, the truck is equipped with an electric on/off button for the battery master switch on both the panel and chassis, featuring a two-step safety activation process that disconnects power to the vehicle—except for the alarm system.

Beyond safety and compliance, the Scania P410A6X4NA Euro V trucks are engineered for fuel efficiency and environmental sustainability. Their advanced powertrain and aerodynamic design help reduce CO₂ emissions. The air suspension also provides excellent comfort for their driver, reducing driver fatigue. Combined with the Electronic Level Control function, the vehicle’s height can be adjusted to facilitate loading and unloading at bays, handling a swap body, or connecting a tanker.

“Operating a Bulk ADR Transport vehicle requires a reliable system to monitor performance and provide the driver with real-time guidance. Through Scania’s Repair and Maintenance Contract, SP Marine Services will gain access to the full suite of Scania Digital Services. With Scania Fleet Management System Control Package, SP Marine Services will receive valuable insights into their vehicles, including real-time positioning, vehicle performance, CO₂ emissions, service planning, defect reporting, and driver evaluation. These insights enable them to identify opportunities for improvement,” stated Rini.

Drivers at SP Marine Services will also benefit from the Scania Driver app, which allows them to view core vehicle data, perform pre-departure checks, track driving time and performance, view service appointments, and locate the nearest Scania workshop. They can also improve their fuel efficiency with Scania ProDriver, a digital coaching service designed to help cultivate fuel-efficient driving habits.

“The Scania P410 Euro V will be repaired and maintained by Scania’s trained workshop crews, ensuring maximise uptime and planned downtime for SP Marine Services. They will also have access to 14 workshops across Malaysia and Singapore together with 24/7 Scania Assistance,” added Faizal Pare, Workshop Manager of Scania Malaysia in Kota Kinabalu.

To support their growth ambitions, SP Marine Services also benefit from Scania’s Financial Services. These unmatched financial solutions help SP Marine Services to focus on expanding their business and achieving greater profitability.
