Scania products Year 2000 compliant
Scania is the first manufacturer of trucks and buses to be able to inform its customers that its products - truck, buses, and industrial and marine engines - are now Year 2000 compliant. The electronic systems in Scania products delivered to date also meet Year 2000 requirements.
"Our programme is proceeding completely according to plan. By September, we expect to have analysed all production equipment, and all necessary measures will be implemented in production by New Year 1999. Work on our administrative, ordering and parts management systems will also be completed by then," says Karl-Gunnar Fexby, project manager of Scania’s ‘Year 2000 Compliance’ project.
Mr. Fexby stresses that Scania’s Year 2000 statement applies to all factory-built Scania products. However, it does not apply to electronic systems in superstructures, such as cranes, tipping gear etc., fitted after delivery of the vehicle.
Scania will be Year 2000 compliant in all respects by mid-1999.
