Scania continues expansion in Poland

Scania Polska, Scania's wholly-owned subsidiary in Poland, today inaugurates its new dealership premises in the city of Pietrzykowice outside Wroclaw in south-western Poland. The city is a vital junction for truck traffic between Germany and eastern Europe, among other major routes.

Poland has rapidly climbed to pole position as Scania's largest market in eastern Europe. In 1997, Scania increased sales by about 130 percent to just over 700 trucks compared with the previous year. In the first quarter of 1998, Scania sold 280 (115) trucks and has increased its market share from just over 5 percent in 1994 to over 20 percent today.

Scania is represented in Poland with a modern dealership and service network in about 20 cities throughout the country. Expansion is continuing; next in line is modernisation of the service workshop in the town of Pila, which is expected to be completed by end June this year, followed by the inauguration of a new showroom and service facility later this summer in Lublin.
