Scania to strengthen Swedish dealer network
Scania's own dealer network in Sweden will undergo reorganisation in the New Year, when dealerships in the major urban areas of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö/Helsingborg will be amalgamated into larger truck sales and service units.
"This streamlining of our truck business will improve our ability to offer wider expertise and to strengthen our dealer network in the major urban areas. Among other things, we will reinforce our local presence by providing greater access to specialist skills, something which will benefit our customers," comments Scania Executive Vice President Göran Löfgren.
The dealers affected by the reorganisation are part of the Scania-owned Bil och Buss Group. Most of these represent both Scania and Svenska Volkswagen.
As part of the reorganisation, truck activities in Södertälje will be amalgamated with those in Stockholm, while Borås will be combined with Gothenburg and Helsingborg with Malmö. The dealers in these three new expanded districts account for one-third of all Scania trucks registered in Sweden.
As of New Year, the truck business of the companies concerned will be taken over by Scania Sverige AB, the company’s Swedish general agent, while the Bil och Buss Group will continue to operate the car business.
