A brief summary of the provided position as below :

The main responsibility of the Application Engineer is to support the salesperson in defining a tailored product in relation to each unique customer's needs. This is achieved by utilizing the defined application range or developing new products and/or service according to the defined strategy. By working out technical solutions together with relevant departments and corporate Scania experts. Furthermore, providing general and in-the-field support and information, specific solution training for the overall organization and Dealers as well as customers.

 

Duties and Tasks

Sales Support - Act as a support function for the sales department and team, acting as first point of contact to tailor customer solutions.

  • Support the sales team and Salesperson through Quotation procedures by
  1. Specification support and sales engineering
  2. Support sales with technical discussions when needed
  3. Handling product and services requests including s-order (collecting and sending)
  • Support with products and services requests regarding
  1. Long term s-order
  2. Request to a-order
  3. Local s-order marketing
  4. Repetitively ask questions to sales team regarding customer request currently not in the local portfolio (a and s-order)
  5. Structure the requests and report to management and Corporate Scania
  • Support regarding sales tools by
  1. Acting as super user
  2. Assist regarding training
  3. Other support needs connected to applicable sales tools
  • Offer assistance and support in regards of unit handovers
  1. Trouble shooting for electrical & mechanical components
  2. Conduct technical as well as installation training for power solution partners and customers
  3. Maintaining, modifying and calibrating the engine test equipment
  4. Complete and follow up on installation report and suggest for improvement

Support products and services introductions - Function as a coordinating and supporting resource regarding market introductions.

  • Act as help desk for application, installation, technology
  • Support products and service introductions through
  1. Coordinating affected departments, stakeholders and resources
  2. Product range and service portfolio
  3. Training
  4. Argumentation
  5. News

Key account support - Identify customer requirements and ensure correct technical solution ,Spec, drawing, etc.

  • Draft technical agreement with key customers
  • Change flow when necessary
  • Structure and clarify offers
  • Train Sales Department, sales teams and other stakeholders
  • Set-up and manage agreement with key account (OEMs or customers)
  • Work with OEMs regarding marketed range to:
  1. Establish relationships and interfaces
  2. Ensure frame agreements
  3. Establish preferred suppliers
  4. Define standard and options
  5. Local adaptation and adjustment
  6. Active contributor for handling the claim processes

Information and Competence Development - Supply information, competence development and support for defined product range

  • Identify, collate and evaluate product development requests from the Market and submit to the factory
  • Support the training department with information needed to deliver commercial and technical training for both internal sales personnel and OEMs
  • Represent Scania within market level professional bodies and industry organisations
  • Represent Scania at industry shows and events
  • Generate and issue documents and plates etc for both Distributor and OEMs
  • Support Marketing and Communication with preparations of press units and accompany journalists on press activities
  • Competitors product information gathering

 

Education and/or Experience

  • University or above in·relevant Education or equivalent work experience
  • Business knowledge and experience from a similar role an advantage
  • Fluent in English
