Floor level
The low entry point and flat floor up to the central doors area offer the same accessibility as for the low floor version in the front and middle sections. In the rear section a higher floor creates better view for passengers. The widened aisle contributes to increased accessibility, comfort and passenger flow.
Axles
The low entry Scania K-chassis is available in several variants enabling it to meet different operational demands.
4x2 - independent suspension or rigid axle
6x2*4 - independent suspension or rigid axle
6x2/2 - (artic) independent suspension or rigid axle
Design features
The low entry Scania K-chassis meet the needs of operators on every continent. With total design and production control over chassis and powertrain, Scania delivers unrivalled reliability, durability and performance.
Chassis frame
The strengthened front axle, in combination with the abi1ity to now use wider tyres, means that load capacity is increased from 7.1 ta 8.2 tonnes. This allows for higher passenger capacity. It also enables optimised weight distribution between the front and rear axles, which is not least important for electrical and gas vehicles. Additionally, chassis weight has been reduced by 2% (>100 kg) without compromising on robustness, contributing to lower energy consumption.
Powertrain technology
The highly dependable, durable, and robust powertrains are available in battery electric and ICE configurations, both offering highly energy efficient propulsion. While the BEV uses a powerful 300 kW (peak) e-machine, the combustion powertrains enable fuel savings of up to 21% compared to the previous generation.
Sustainable range
The BEV variant can be specified with up to 520 kWh installed battery capacity, providing a range of over 500 km in optimal conditions. Our battery packs are developed in partnership with Northvolt and assembled in-house to reach premium quality as well as environmental and social sustainability, both in the production process and supply chain.
Articulation control
Scania has an industry-leading control system for articulated variants that uses wheelspin control, traction control, articulation damping system and a patented sway control. This prevents instability and jack-knifing while also facilitating handling, manoeuvrability, and safe driving in slippery conditions and during lane changes at high speeds.
The driver workplace
Scania´s driver area is designed to provide industry-leading comfort and ergonomics, visibility, and drivability. Developed with a safety focus, it is equipped with numerous advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and state-of-the-art safety features. The digital Smart Dash provides drivers with insights to enable informed, efficient and safe driving, while offering seamless digital vehicle-office integration.
Front suspension technology
Without compromising on passenger capacity, the new independent front suspension offers excellent passenger comfort and enables a wider aisle (900 mm) – resulting in new layout possibilities, increased passenger flow, space and accessibility. The new rigid front suspension also increases passenger capacity and offers good passenger comfort.
