rear axle housing
The part that drives the truck forward.
Scania Luleå manufactures rear axle housings for Scania’s heavy trucks and buses.
The rear axle housings form the foundation for the more than 90 different variants of driven axles produced by Scania. These axles are used in trucks for long-haul transport, construction work and distribution, as well as in buses for city and long-distance traffic.
The rear axle housing is part of the truck’s load-bearing structure and includes, among other things, the final drive, which propels the truck forward. The final drive is mounted at Scania Södertälje.
The rear axle housing is built in a modular way, much like Lego. This enables us to efficiently produce many different variants for our customers.

The rear axle housings are packed and delivered in sequence to arrive at axle assembly in the exact order requested by customers.
